Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal had very brief, rather unrealistic hope of signing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian shot stopper is leaving AC Milan when his contract expires at the end of this month, with Milan unable to keep their homegrown star.
Many have wondered where Donnarumma is going, and there were developments on Monday night which suggest he won’t be heading to England.
Arsenal and Tottenham in for Donnarumma
Suggestions in recent days have linked Donnarumma with both Arsenal and Spurs.
First, it was Tottenham being linked. Tuttosport suggested that Donnarumma was a target if Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici joined.
Conte won’t be Tottenham’s new boss, but Paratici is still coming in, which left fans with hope that Donnarumma could join.
Next, it was Arsenal’s turn. Tuttosport claim that the Gunners fancy Donnarumma on a free transfer given the question marks over Bernd Leno’s future.

Donnarumma is heading to the French capital, not the English one
Despite that hope that Donnarumma could head to London, it’s Paris where he will call home.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Donnarumma’s move to Paris Saint-Germain is now ‘imminent’, and a medical will come soon.
Branded ‘extraordinary’ by Dino Zoff, Donnarumma will now look to compete with Keylor Navas under Mauricio Pochettino.
Missing out on Donnarumma was possibly to be expected for Arsenal and Spurs, but this development leaves them going back to the drawing board.
