Arsenal and Tottenham have this week discovered that rumoured target Darwin Nunez has a release clause in his Benfica contract worth €150m (£127m).
According to O Jogo via the Express, the Portuguese giants could demand a club-record fee for the Uruguayan international. However, as per the report, Benfica will accept bids this summer of just €80m (£68m) for Nunez, who is a target for both Arsenal and Tottenham.
90min have claimed this week that the north London duo, as well as Aston Villa and Newcastle United, are all in talks to sign the 22-year-old attacker, who this season has been in spectacular form for Benfica both domestically and in Europe and has been labelled as ‘electric’ by Micah Richards.
Nunez has bagged an impressive 26 goals in 33 games for the Lisbon-based club, and his form this season has caught the eye of some of the biggest sides in the Premier League, namely Arsenal and Tottenham.
The two clubs are looking to add to their forward line this summer, with Arsenal potentially looking at signing two centre-forwards in the transfer window if both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah depart the Emirates Stadium.
Moreover, with Nunez having an excellent season and exports from the Portuguese Primera Liga usually impressing in the Premier League, the South American could be a brilliant signing for Arsenal or Tottenham this summer.
Nunez’s asking price and release clause is too much for Arsenal or Tottenham

There’s no denying that Nunez has been outstanding this season, with the young striker one of the most prolific in Europe and a player who has the potential to become a superstar. Yet for Arsenal and Tottenham, the fee Benfica are demanding is simply too high.
After all, this is only Nunez’s second season in Portugal, whilst there is a real buzz around the 22-year-old, Arsenal and Tottenham should be looking for more assured talents to lead their front line if they are to spend big on a centre-forward this summer.
