Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil posted an inspirational message on Twitter following Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph.
Mesut Ozil is a world-class attacker midfielder, but there are many who still doubt him.
The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for a club-record £42.5 million last summer and kicked off life in the Premier League on a positive note.
It was soon clear that the Germany international was going to be a key figure in the Gunners’ quest for Premier League success for the first time since 2004, but from the festive period onwards, his form started to deteriorate.
Injuries also played a part in Ozil’s largely underwhelming performances in the second half of the 2013-14 season, and heading into the 2014 World Cup, many questioned his abilities.
However, Ozil continued to work quietly and gracefully, and always had the faith of his Germany coach Joachim Low, demonstrated by the fact that he started every game for Die Mannschaft in Brazil and ended up the following impressive stats:

Ozil was not the standout player in the final against Argentina at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, but he still created chances, looked composed and kept the opposition defenders on their toes.
Germany eventually won the final 1-0 in extra time to lift the World Cup for the fourth time in history, leading the former Werder Bremen star to make the following post on social networking site Twitter.
It is a very inspirational message from Ozil not just to football fans but to everyone. Having being doubted both in his homeland Germany and in England, the Arsenal star understands what it means to prove detractors wrong, and his success proves that with self-conviction and hard work, one can achieve one’s dreams.
True, Ozil was not at his best last season and was not the best player in Brazil, but he can boast winning the FA Cup and the World Cup in the space of a few weeks. That should be enough to keep his detractors quiet. For now, at least.
