Arsenal and Chelsea are thought to be lurking in the race to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi this summer.

Axel Disasi is attracting major Premier League interest with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be eyeing moves.

That is according to a report from The Sun, who claim that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to sign Disasi.

United allegedly feel that the fee is too big though and that leaves the door open for other clubs to pounce.

It’s stated that Arsenal and Chelsea are lurking and could ‘nip in with a bid’ for the Frenchman soon.

Monaco allegedly want around £34million for Disasi, a hefty profit on the £12million they paid to sign him in 2020.

Chelsea a much more likely destination than Arsenal for Axel Disasi

Disasi has impressed since joining Monaco and is a big, imposing defender at 6ft 3in tall.

The former Stade de Reims ace may now be ready to move on but we can’t imagine a move to Arsenal happening now.

The Gunners have been linked in the past but Mikel Arteta just signed a new defender in Jurrien Timber.

It’s hard to imagine Arsenal splashing more money on a centre back when Timber, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior can all play there.

A move to Chelsea seems much more likely.

The Blues have just lost Wesley Fofana to a major injury and he may miss the whole season.

Chelsea could move to sign another French defender to replace Fofana during his absence with Disasi wanted.

It’s only a few months since Chelsea signed a defender from Monaco in Benoit Badiashile but they could move in for Disasi.

Chelsea have been linked with other options such as Marc Guehi but Disasi is now a name to keep tabs on with Manchester United seemingly not making him a priority right now.
