Everton don’t want to sell Amadou Onana – but would seemingly discuss a deal in the region of £50million for the Arsenal and Chelsea target.

That’s according to a couple of reports emerging with interest in the giant midfielder now mounting.

Het Laatste Nieuws and Voetbal Primeur in Belgium suggest that Everton aren’t keen on selling Onana, even with a loan-back included.

Graeme Bailey and 90Min do though claim that Onana can be signed for around £50million this month.

Whether anybody is actually willing to pay that remains to be seen; Everton paid £33million to sign Onana from Lille over the summer and now want a hefty profit.

Onana has blown hot and cold in the Premier League so £50million is lofty asking price – and it’s hard to see Arsenal going for that deal right now.

Arsenal place real focus on signing another midfielder amid Amadou Onana chase

Missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk hasn’t worked out too badly for Arsenal.

Sure, Mudryk looked exciting for Chelsea after his shock move to Stamford Bridge but Arsenal are exploring more deals now they’re now putting all of their eggs in the Mudryk basket.

Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior have joined, Ivan Fresneda could follow and then we come to the chase of a new midfielder.

Thomas Partey needs cover and competition moving forward, with Onana possibly viewed as that kind of play.

Onana is a giant at 6ft 4in tall and could be moulded into a quality number six, who can also make an impact going forward.

Declan Rice has been linked too but is more of a finished product than Onana, whilst Moises Caicedo has also been linked.

Spending £50million on Onana this month would be a major show of faith in his potential and in Mikel Arteta’s ability to improve him.

We can’t quite see Arsenal splashing £50million on Onana this month, but if he is still at Goodison Park in the summer, maybe a deal will be possible.
