Arsenal haven’t made any progress in their pursuit of Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak despite him being spotted in London over the weekend.
That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that there are no developments on a deal for Isak heading into transfer deadline day.
Arsenal are on the verge of letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join Barcelona on loan, leaving many believing that a new striker is heading in.
Fans were sent into a frenzy over the weekend after Sociedad hitman Isak was spotted in London amid strong Arsenal interest.
Last week, Fabrizio Romano claimed that Arsenal ‘love’ Isak just as much as they loved previous target Dusan Vlahovic.
Vlahovic has joined Juventus from Fiorentina, leaving Arsenal gutted. Still, it sounds like they consider Isak to be just as good.
Whilst Vlahovic hit 17 goals in 21 league games this season, Isak has only managed four goals in 18 league games this season.
With Isak then spotted in London over the weekend, Arsenal fans had real hope that the Swede could be joining before the deadline.
However, the trip to London was believed to be for fun rather than business, and Arsenal haven’t progressed anything for Isak.
That doesn’t mean a deal won’t be happening though, and you have to think back to the case of Thomas Partey in 2020.

Arsenal left it until deadline day to activate the release clause in Partey’s Atletico deal, luring him to North London at the last minute.
Isak also has a release clause in his contract, which stands at a huge €90million (£75million) according to Mundo Deportivo.
That’s more expensive than Vlahovic and by quite a distance, meaning Arsenal may not be so keen on paying that kind of money.
Still, Isak is only 22 and looks to have huge potential. Gary Lineker praised Isak as an ‘exceptional talent’ last summer, and he knows a thing or two about strikers.
Isak isn’t Arsenal-bound by any stretch, but keep tabs on him during deadline day with the Gunners keen.
