Jack Wilshere is back in football having completed a surprise move to mid-table Danish side AGF Aarhus – and Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has reacted on Instagram. Wilshere had been training, and coaching, at Arsenal.
Wilshere, 30, has been without a club since last summer after failing to earn a long-term Bournemouth contract. His injury record and a lack of fitness has proven detrimental in his search to find a new home since then.
But now, the 34-time England star has made the surprising move to Denmark and join seventh-placed Aarhus – who sit smack bang in the middle of the Danish Superliga. He has a contract until the summer.
Wilshere had been training with Arsenal’s senior side, as well as coaching the younger players at the Arsenal academy. He had also been working as a pundit on radio station TalkSPORT. Now, he is off to Denmark.
The ex-Bolton and West Ham midfielder posted on Instagram after completing a move to Aarhus – his first move away from English football. It ends an eight-month wait to finally kickstart his career.
Tierney on Wilshere: Arsenal right not to offer midfielder a contract
On a regular basis, Arsenal were told by pundits, fans that they should hand Wilshere a contract until the summer. The Gunners have needed a midfielder for a while – on paper, who better than Arsenal icon Wilshere?
But unfortunately for Wilshere, Arsenal chose to stick with what they have. It was probably the right decision for all parties, as a move to Aarhus allows Wilshere to be a big fish in a small pond – and gives him regular game time.
Tierney responded to Wilshere’s move on Instagram – telling the Aarhus no.10 that he will miss him.
