Arsenal have been strongly linked with signing AC Milan striker Rafael Leao – but his form is really tailing off, leading to criticism in Italy.

The Gunners simply have to come out of the summer transfer window with one, two or maybe even three new strikers.

Alexander Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract this summer and Arsenal must completely overhaul their attacking options.

A whole host of leading attackers around Europe have been linked with Arsenal but one of them finds himself in truly dismal form.

Reports from Italian newspaper La Repubblica in February claimed that Arsenal are leading the race to sign Leao this summer.

Leao has been compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry over in Italy, and that kind of comparison has to be exciting for Gunners fans.

Leao ended February with eight league goals to his name, yet midway through April he remains on the same total.

Now six games without a goal for AC Milan, there is mounting criticism emerging for the Portuguese international.

Milan have drawn their last two games 0-0 and Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest that Leao has suffered a ‘complete disappearance’ for a month and a half.

It’s added that Leao has ‘disappeared rom the radar’ and Milan need him to get back on track with their title hopes taking a major hit.

This is something Arsenal need to be very wary of, as they can’t afford to carry strikers who aren’t finding the net; that has been the problem with Lacazette.

Arsenal are thought to be backing away from Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a result of his goalscoring problems.

If Leao can’t start finding the net again, Arsenal may well do the same with him and simply move on to other transfer targets.
