Rob Holding is about to leave Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and move to Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace, according to a report.

The Daily Mail (Transfer Live blog, 3:26pm, September 1, 2023) has reported that Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing central defender Rob Holding from London and Premier League rivals Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Palace have agreed to pay Arsenal £4 million in transfer fees to secure the services of Holding on a permanent deal.

The Englishman is “now preparing” to switch between the two London clubs.

This means that Arsenal have made a profit of £2 million on the 27-year-old.

Arsenal signed Holding from Bolton Wanderers back in the summer of 2016.

As reported by BBC Sport in July 2016, Arsenal paid Bolton £2 million in transfer fees for Holding.

Holding could never establish himself as a regular in the Arsenal first team and has been a squad player during his time at the North London club.

The defender has made 98 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Holding has scored two goals, given one assist, and kept 22 clean sheets in those games.

Ben White, Gabriel and William Saliba are the three main and fit centre-backs at Arsenal at the moment.

Holding would have struggled to get much playing time at Arsenal this season.
