Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are about to make a second bid for Aston Villa defensive midfielder and Liverpool target Douglas Luiz on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel.

Arsenal to make second bid for Liverpool target Douglas Luiz

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on Twitter that Arsenal are planning to make a second offer of £23 million for Luiz.

The Gunners had an earlier bid of £20 million for the 24-year-old turned down.

The Athletic are also reporting that Arsenal are working on a second offer for the Brazil international, described as “unbelievable” by then Villa manager Dean Smith in The Birmingham Mail in June 2020.

The report has claimed that the Brazilian star himself is keen on a move to Arsenal.

Interestingly, Luiz has been linked with Liverpool as well.

The Daily Mail reported on August 31 that Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Newcastle United all are keen on the Villa star.

It was The Daily Mail who claimed earlier today that Liverpool are looking into a possible deal for Luiz.

Could a transfer happen?

In our view, if Douglas Luiz is keen on a move to Arsenal, then it is very likely that Aston Villa will eventually sell him today.

Now, the Gunners may have to increase their offer from £23 million, but if the player is pushing for an exit, then it is likely that Villa will accept a decent bid and let him leave.
