Granit Xhaka has praised Kepa Arrizabalaga for pulling off a number of ‘great’ saves and denying him the chance to score during Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night at the Emirates.
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea suffered their sixth defeat on the bounce against their London rivals, whilst Mikel Arteta’s side kept their Premier League title dreams alive.
Whilst Granit Xhaka didn’t get on the scoresheet, he supplied two assists for his captain, Martin Odegaard.
The Norway star netted a brace on the night, with Ian Wright claiming that he is Arsenal’s ‘Player of the Season’.
Gabriel Jesus was the other man to find the back of the net for the Gunners, with Xhaka just pleased his team were able to react to recent poor performances, as he told Premier League Productions (02/05/23 at 10:20 pm).
“I think I could have scored, Kepa had two or three great saves as well,” said Xhaka.
“In the second half, he makes a great save. But, I am happy we won. The reaction as well and, hopefully, we can continue like this.”
ARSENAL AND CHELSEA ARE IN OPPOSITE WORLDS
At the start of the season, many probably expected Chelsea to, not only finish above Arsenal, but challenge for the title.
Yet, fast forward to the present, and the two teams are worlds apart.
Arsenal are still pushing for the title and they are on 78 points, with Chelsea on 39 points and facing the possibility that they could finish as low as 15th this season.
