Wayne Rooney has raved about reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham in The Times.
The former Manchester United and Everton star has been impressed by the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Rooney has said that the reported Liverpool target has a “good arrogance about him” and has backed him to do well for England at the Euro 2020 finals.
Eurosport reported in April that that Liverpool are among the clubs who are monitoring the 17-year-old midfielder.
Rooney said about Bellingham in The Times: “When you watch Jude Bellingham play, it’s hard to believe he is nine months younger than I was at Euro 2004. He has been brilliant in his short England career.
“I have been watching his games for Borussia Dortmund and have first hand experience of how good he is — I played against him for Derby in his final game for Birmingham.
“In fact, he man-marked me for the first 20-25 minutes of the game before we changed our system and he is really confident — he has that good arrogance about him which top players have.
“He could shine at Euro 2020. I don’t think the tournament will faze him. For Dortmund, he has already played plenty of big games.”

Bellingham has been superb for Dortmund since joining the German club from Birmingham City last summer for a transfer fee reported by The Mirror to be worth £20.7 million.
The 17-year-old has done well in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League, and now the youngster will play for England at the Euro 2020 finals this summer.
Liverpool’s reported interest in Bellingham does not come as a surprise.
After all, Georginio Wijnaldum is leaving the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side need to sign a replacement, and Bellingham does fit the bill.
Rooney himself was a great player, and the Derby County manager knows a brilliant player when he sees one.
Bellingham made 19 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the Bundesliga this past season.
The teenage midfielder also made eight starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Dortmund.
