Spurs have parted ways with Antonio Conte and the search for his successor is effectively on.
An immediate deal is unlikely with Cristian Stellini in temporary charge, but Daniel Levy and co will be looking.
One name believed to in the mix is Slot.
The Times reported earlier in March that Tottenham are interested in the Feyenoord boss.
The Dutchman is working wonders at Feyenoord and has the Rotterdam club on the brink of an Eredivisie title win.
An incredibly attacking manager, Slot has been hailed as ‘the best coach in the world at the moment’ by Feyenoord ace Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
Tottenham may well be keen but Slot is now being urged to avoid a move to North London.
Slot told to reject Tottenham
Dutch coaching legend Aad de Mos has now had his say on Slot and isn’t convinced that Tottenham is the right move.
De Mos managed the likes of Ajax, Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven in a managerial career spanning 28 years.
Now a pundit in the Netherlands, De Mos has given some advice to Feyenoord boss Slot.
Speaking to SoccerNews podcast Twee Viertje, De Mos urged Slot to avoid the managerial ‘graveyard’ at Tottenham.
De Mos tore into Tottenham, suggesting that players like Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Eric Dier have been there too long now.
De Mos also thinks it is difficult to work under a chairman like Daniel Levy and noted how many managers have failed at Spurs in recent years.
The Dutchman loved Spurs growing up but thinks they are lagging behind many of their Premier League rivals, seemingly believing that Slot should avoid a move to Tottenham.
“I wouldn’t do that. It’s a graveyard for coaches, that has been proven. Whoever has been a coach in recent years, there isn’t a single coach who has been able to keep above water. Pochettino, the rest are all discarded,” said De Mos. “It is not easy to work with that chairman, it is not easy to work with players who have been there too long, from Lloris to Kane, from Son to Dier. It’s still a difficult thing when you’re dealing with a chairman like Levy.”
“It’s been a long time since they’ve ever won anything, I was a huge fan of it as a boy of ten, twelve, with Tommy Smith (we will assume De Mos meant Bobby Smith here!), with Danny Blanchflower, with Mackay, John White, they were great players and a great club. Always fond memories of the Spurs, one of my favourite clubs to go to. Unfortunately, if the situation at such a club is not one hundred percent pure, you will notice that in the results. That still lags behind, compared to an Arsenal, Manchester City, or Chelsea, or Liverpool,” he added.
