Armand Traore has said on Stadium Astro that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is wrong to use Cedric Soares as a left-back.

The former Arsenal left-back believes that the Gunners should have signed a cover for Kieran Tierney in the January transfer window.

Sead Kolasinac left the Gunners for Schalke on loan until the end of the season, but Arsenal did not replace him in the squad.

Tierney has had injury problems in recent weeks, and Cedric has been playing at left-back in place of the Scotland international.

The 29-year-old Portugal international is a right-back by trade, and Traore believes that Arteta should not be deploying him at left-back.

Traore said on Stadium Astro: “I am against it. I would have liked to see a left-back coming in for cover for Kieran Tierney because I believe that Kieran Tierney has got a lot of injury issues at the moment, so the fact that they didn’t was a bit disappointing.

“I don’t like seeing Cedric at left-back. He is a right-footed player, he creates imbalance within the back-four within the whole squad, I believe.”

Hoping for Kieran Tierney quick recovery

Tierney is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and is one of the few Arsenal players who have done consistently well this season.

Arsenal fans will hope that the 23-year-old recovers fully soon and stays fit until the end of the season.

Cedric is doing his best at left-back, but as Traore pointed out, the former Southampton star is a right-back and cannot really be expected to play to the level of Tierney.
