Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been hailed for his performance against Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus.

Argentina beat Brazil in the early hours of the morning with Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero playing a key role.

History was made this morning as Argentina walked into the Maracana and left victorious.

Nicolas Otamendi scored the only goal of the game, handing Argentina a memorable victory.

This was Brazil’s first-ever home defeat in a World Cup qualifier, with Argentina no doubt enjoying a big win over their bitter rivals.

Cristian Romero hailed after Argentina win

Argentina won the World Cup last year and are now top of the CONMEBOL qualifying table.

Lionel Scaloni is a national hero and ending Brazil’s record only adds to his growing legendary status.

The key here was that Argentina kept a clean sheet, stifling Brazil’s attack and snatching the only goal of the game.

One centre back bagged the winner in Otamendi and the other turned in a great display as Cristian Romero excelled.

The Tottenham defender is a vital part of the Argentina side and the national media praised his latest display.

Clarin rated Romero at seven out of 10 whilst suggesting that he ‘controlled Gabriel Jesus very well’ in a ‘very solid’ display.

The Arsenal striker just couldn’t get anything out of Romero – something Tottenham fans will absolutely love.

TyC Sports went with a 10 out of 10 rating for Romero, praising him as a ‘beast’ whilst hailing one goalline clearance.

Emiliano Martinez flapped at one cross in the first half with Gabriel Martinelli firing the ball towards goal.

Romero was in the right place at the right time though, saving his goalkeeper with a clearance off the line.

River El Mas Grande gave Romero a nine out of 10, stating that he had ‘another great game’ and ‘ate all the Brazilian forwards’.

Bolavip go with an 8.5 out of 10, stating that Romero was the best player for Argentina in the first half and didn’t let his performance level slip after the break.

Ole scored Romero at an 8 out of 10, with the general consensus that Romero was absolutely vital to Argentina’s big win.

Romero will miss Tottenham’s next two games against Aston Villa and Manchester City though suspension, with Spurs fans no doubt counting down the days until his return.
