Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has posted on Instagram ‘let’s go for glory’ as Argentina prepare to lock horns with France for the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar on Sunday.
32 teams from across the world entered football’s biggest stage on November 20th, but on December 18th, only one team will be left standing.
France were here four years ago when they put four goals past Croatia to become champions of the world for the first time since 1998.

Well, they have the chance to write themselves into the legend books because, should they beat Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina, then they will become only the third team in World Cup history to retain their crown after Italy and Brazil.
But that’s when the Copa America winners come into play, led by their no-nonsense, bleep-housing, and penalty-saving expert in between the sticks.
Martinez will do anything to win this World Cup for Messi, and so will the fans, and probably others outside of Argentina, as Villa’s vice-captain sent this message:
“Last training,” said Martinez. “We reached the final all together, as we dreamt it. Let’s go for glory.”
MARTINEZ MADE FOR GAMES LIKE THIS
As Villa fans know too well, their man in between the sticks isn’t shy of showcasing his confidence or getting under the skin of the opposition.
Every bit of those ingredients are going to be needed against France if Argentina are to cook the perfect recipe for Messi to bow out in the best possible way on football’s biggest stage.
If it comes to the dreaded penalties, then Martinez will be the most confident man in Doha, simply because he is made for pressure-cooker moments like this, which he has proven time and time again before.
