Tottenham Hotspur have only won once in the league since Balague’s book on head coach Mauricio Pochettino came out.

A defensive Guillem Balague has responded to the suggestion that he is partly responsible for Tottenham Hotspur’s loss of form.
Since the release of Balague’s book, titled ‘Brave New World: Inside [Mauricio] Pochettino’s Spurs’, at the end of October, the Londoners have lost three and won one of their five Premier League matches and slipped to seventh in the standings.
However, their Champions League form remains unblemished, with wins against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund arriving in that time.

As reported by Football.London on Thursday, Pochettino ‘almost spat out his water’ when questioned about the somewhat bizarre theory, and Balague had the following to say on the matter during a Sky Sports Q & A session earlier: “Are you seriously asking this? It must have been a slow day for news when Pochettino even gets asked in the press conference about it.
“Funnily enough, apparently it is a ‘curse’ that only affects the League as media forgot to mention the draw and victory against Real Madrid and the victory against Dortmund since it came out.
“Are we really that superficial that we think a book jinxes a club? By the way, in the same period last year, Spurs won two out of eight games. How do we explain that? I had started working on the book, so maybe the curse started there? I went to Liverpool for a while I was writing it. Maybe that explains Everton’s form?”

Tottenham have missed the likes of Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld in recent weeks, while Erik Lamela and Danny Rose have only recently returned to full fitness after lengthy absences.
However, Pochettino confirmed on Thursday that Winks is available for selection against Watford on Saturday.
