Wolves’ wing-backs deserve much praise for their performances this season.
It has certainly been an impressive start to the season for Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team currently four points clear at the top of the Championship.
Wolves are determined to push for promotion to the Premier League and the likes of Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota have received much praise for their goalscoring exploits as they have found the net ten and eight times respectively.
However, Wolves’ wing-backs in their 3-4-3 formation also deserve to be commended, with Matt Doherty and Barry Douglas having produced some excellent displays.
Both players have been resilient defensively, while they have also provided an attacking threat.
Doherty recently scored his first goal of the season in the victory over Reading, while he has also provided three assists in the Championship.
Douglas, meanwhile, has scored twice and has weighed in with six assists as he has helped Wolves’ attacking momentum.
Confidence is high at Wolves at present, especially following the 4-1 victory over Leeds United this week, but Nuno will be wary that there is still much work to do if his side are to achieve promotion.
Should that objective be fulfilled, Doherty and Douglas would certainly deserve their new status as Premier League players.
