Talented England Under-23 ace Kortney Hause is struggling for chances under Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Wolves are expected to trim the fat from their squad in January with the Express and Star reporting that seldom-seen winger Michael Zyro and midfielder Prince Oniangue are set to depart – at least on temporary deals.

But one player who will not be leaving Molineux in January is out-of-favour centre-back Kortney Hause. The homegrown defender was a regular under Paul Lambert last season but, as it stands, has not made a single Championship appearance under Nuno Espirito Santo – suggesting that his time in the Black Country was coming to an end.

Yet, the Express and Star claims that Hause is seen as an important part of the first-team squad who, like the in-form Ryan Bennett, will be able to slot in to the starting XI when required.

How much longer Hause has to wait, however, remains to be seen with Conor Coady, Willy Boly, Roderick Miranda, Danny Batth and Bennett all ahead of him in the pecking order.

It must be remembered, however, that Hause is only 22-year-old and has plenty of time to improve his game. The England Under-23 international boasts doubtless potential and made great strides under Lambert last season.

And Hause certainly seized his one and only chance this season against Manchester City in the EFL Cup in October, producing a sterling defensive performance to keep Sergio Aguero and co off the scoresheet for 120 minutes before suffering penalty shoot-out heartbreak.

In truth, it would make little sense for Wolves to let a player of Hause’s potential leave midway through the season. As Bennett will attest, Nuno will never shut the door to anyone.
