West Ham United are reportedly planning a summer raid for the Burnley player, but he has also been linked with Everton.
According to a report from the Mirror, West Ham United are preparing a £15million bid for Burnley forward Andre Gray this summer, but would the Hammers be paying more than necessary for the 26-year-old given the Clarets’ recent valuation?
After all, just last week the same publication claimed Burnley were willing to accept £10million from Everton for the player, given that he has just a year left on his current contract, so could the Hammers be planning to go in high in a bid to finally get a deal over the line after a disappointing summer thus far?

West Ham certainly need more fire-power and, even at £15million, Gray could represent a sound investment.
Too often Slaven Bilic’s side have been caught twiddling their thumbs while ideal targets have been snapped up elsewhere, and if they are now willing to offer £5million more than Burnley’s minimum price tag, one can only hope that they have learnt their lesson and are not prepared to watch Gray join that list by moving to Everton ahead of them.
The problem with attempting to negotiate cut-price moves for sought after players is that another club is always round the corner, ready to gazump you, so West Ham need to bid big and get a striker deal over the line before their pre-season friendlies begin.
Gray has the innate talent to succeed at the London Stadium, and he is arguably about to reach his peak, so West Ham’s interest is no surprise.
What could be is the swiftness of a deal, provided the Hammers make a £15million bid outright and Burnley are willing to accept that is about the best they can hope for.
