Tottenham Hotspur were linked with the right-back, who it is claimed could cost at least £34 million, earlier this summer.

It is three months since Tottenham Hotspur were reported by the Telegraph to have enquired about the Nice right-back, Youcef Atal.

But with few updates reported in the meantime, it was perhaps safe to assume that any interest Tottenham may have had, had long since cooled.

It appeared for a long time that, despite having sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid, Spurs were unlikely to add to their right-back options.

But after one of those, Juan Foyth, was ruled out for at least a month with ankle ligament damage, that could be about to change.

Juan Foyth of Tottenham Hotspur injured during the Audi cup 2019 final match between Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Muenchen at Allianz Arena on July 31, 2019 in Munich, Germany.

And it is perhaps no surprise then to see Atal’s name resurface in connection with Tottenham Hotspur, this time via DZ Football.

The website, which is based in Atal’s native Algeria, claims Spurs are ‘keeping tabs’ on the 23-year-old, who has spent just a season playing in one of Europe’s major leagues.

Could it be a sign that Mauricio Pochettino’s team are ready to sign a right-back after all, or is it simply a regurgitation of past interest?

With an asking price of ‘at least £34 million’, according to the Telegraph, a Tottenham move for Atal as it stands – when they already have Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters in his position – would be somewhat out of character.
