Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday announced that another of their hugely talented young players has extended his contract at White Hart Lane, with England international Eric Dier now staying at the club until 2021, and it’s yet another indication that the club are firmly on an upward trajectory.

In fact, having seen the way in which another two of the country’s biggest clubs have struggled in recent seasons, with both Newcastle United and Aston Villa being relegated despite spending more last season than Spurs, there may be scope to suggest that the North Londoners are arguably the best run club in the UK right now.

After a trio of deadline day signings, Spurs completed a very healthy window that saw them address a number of issues in the squad.

With Mauricio Pochettino in charge of a young, hungry squad, playing entertaining and ambitious football, Tottenham are returning to the Champions League after a five year absence with a state of the art training ground in place and a new stadium being built at White Hart Lane.

The Argentine, and the of course the board have helped Spurs become a club that any starlet would want to join and develop, and increasingly, commit to staying such is the good feeling at Hotspur Way.

Dier’s extension followed hot on the heels of contracts for Christian Eriksen, Kevin Wimmer and Dele Alli, and with more expected.

Judgement will have to be passed after Wednesday’s match with Monaco of course, but even the risk of using Wembley for Champions League matches is increasing the club’s exposure, with the Lilywhites set to break the British record for home matches in the competition.

Despite years of supporters airing their criticism at Daniel Levy’s running of the club, it is no stretch to suggest that Tottenham may have undergone the best ten or so years of development in the club’s history, and that right now, there are few better run outfits around.
