Tottenham Hotspur are said to be planning to rival Everton for Andre Gomes in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of landing Andre Gomes in the summer are surely only increasing, as Everton continue to struggle for form.

The Telegraph have reported how Spurs are keen to snap up the Portuguese midfielder, who is currently on loan at Everton.

The Toffees are also trying to buy Gomes, but their recent dip in results is unlikely to convince the Barcelona man to stick around at Goodison Park, after his loan expires.

Everton are sunk all the way down to ninth in the Premier League table, and they could fall even further unless they arrest their current slide.

Marco Silva’s men have won just three of their last 12 league matches, causing questions to be asked.

And if Everton don’t have the ability to offer Gomes European football, then Tottenham may well have the power to move ahead of them in the queue for his signature.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Gomes has a £89 million release clause in his contract, although Barcelona are expected to sell for much less.

Spurs made a similar move when they signed Toby Alderweireld, after he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Southampton.

And if Everton’s bad form doesn’t stop soon, then a switch to Tottenham is likely to only be becoming more and more appealing to Gomes.
