Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with AS Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.

Monaco's Kylian Mbappe-Lottin scores their second goal

Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has suggested on Skysports.com that the agent of Kylian Mbappe does not want the striker to leave AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.

Balague has also claimed that Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing the18-year-old France Under-19 international.

“There have been really good reports on Silva sent back to the Bernabeu,” Balague wrote on Skysports.com. “Mbappe was brilliant too and it’s been reported he is a Jorge Mendes player. He is not – yet.

“Mendes is trying to get him and his agent at the moment is saying he doesn’t want Mbappe to leave Monaco for at least another year, possibly two. His agent believes the striker needs the time to develop and it’s still too early to move.”

Disappointment for Tottenham Hotspur?

Balague’s comments will come as disappointment for Tottenham Hotspur, who have also been linked with a move for Mbappe.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing the youngster in the summer transfer window.

Mbappe has scored seven goals and created 15 chances in 18 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco so far this season.

It would make sense for the youngster to remain at Monaco for one more season at least and develop his game.

Tottenham’s (reported) interest in the youngster is understandable, but Balague’s comments suggest that they would be disappointed if they maintain their pursuit of the Monaco striker.

Moreover, with Harry Kane going strong, would Mbappe be willing to play second fiddle at White Hart Lane?
