According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Everton attacker Ademola Lookman.
Lookman is struggling to get a game under Everton boss Ronald Koeman, and Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town are also interested.
Tottenham were keen on Lookman while he was at Charlton Athletic, and their interest in him now is somewhat of an admission of an error in not securing his services in the first place.
Everton paid £11 million to sign Lookman in January, making him the most expensive player ever signed from England’s third tier.
He scored on his debut against Manchester City, but has barely been seen since, and this season he has yet to play a single minute in the Premier League.
The Toffees may not be ready to relinquish Lookman’s services yet, and letting him leave for Spurs could be a mistake.
The very notion that Tottenham remain interested drops a major hint to Everton that Lookman is a top prospect – as if they didn’t know already, and should not sell.
Tottenham making a move now should be too late, and Everton should not give them the opportunity to correct their error.
To ensure that is the case, they need to start playing him. Based on their form at present, they have little to lose.
