Steve Bruce has told Aston Villa’s official website that his team are now playing for their futures.
Villa’s hopes of being promoted this season are over, but Bruce does not want his players switching off.
And he has warned that everyone at Villa is playing for their future.
“A lot of the lads have a lot to prove over the next 10 games and stake a claim that once pre-season comes that they are part of our squad that will take this club to mount a challenge,” Bruce said.

Gabriel Agbonlahor
Although Agbonlahor is currently out injured, his future at Villa looks very insecure.
Bruce gave the experienced forward a chance after taking over, but he has failed to repay his manager’s faith.
Agbonlahor has not scored a goal for Villa this season, and could well be moved on in the summer.
Jordan Amavi
Amavi was expected to be a key player for Villa this term, but he has disappointed.
The French defender has not been the stand out player he was expected to be in the Championship, with his performances lacking spark.
Villa could get good money for Amavi, and if he really wants to stay with the Midlands club, he will need to prove his quality over the next few games.
Tommy Elphick
Elphick’s first season at Villa has not gone according to plan, with his performances being well below par.
The former Bournemouth man knows what it’s like to be promoted from the Championship, but he does not seem to have settled well at all at Villa.
If he is to convince Bruce he has a part to play next term, he will need a strong end of the season.
