Are the stars about to align for Rangers’ January recruit, Matt Polster?

After back-to-back appearances for Rangers’ reserve team, Polster – the American right-back-cum-central-midfielder – was conspicuous by his absence as Peter Lovenkrands’ side were held to a 1-1 draw at Dunfermline on Monday.

The fixture came two days before the Gers’ seniors are next in action, at home to Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup.

And Steven Gerrard revealed on Tuesday that two of Rangers’ centre mids, Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack, will need to be assessed before being allowed to play in that game.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrookes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on February 16, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Whether the pair are passed fit or not, some rotation could be in store as Rangers play the second of four matches in a 12-day period.

And a debut for Polster – named on the bench for the very first time against St Johnstone on Saturday – appears increasingly on the cards, be it against Killie, Hamilton or Dundee.
