Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer is reportedly wanted by Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in The Mirror over the weekend, West Bromwich Albion were on the verge of signing Kevin Wimmer from Tottenham Hotspur.

It was reported that Wimmer will join West Brom from Premier League Tottenham in a £15 million deal.

The 24-year-old central defender is still at Spurs, but could the Baggies face a late challenge from Stoke City?

According to Sky Sports (Transfer blog, 15:09, August 21, 2017), Stoke manager Mark Hughes is still keen on the Austria international centre-back.

It has been reported that West Brom are favourites for the 24-year-old, but with the deal yet to go through, maybe the Potters could make a late bid and scupper the Baggies’ move for the centre-back.

Wimmer is a talented and promising defender, but the 24-year-old centre-back has failed to make an impact since his arrival at Tottenham two years ago.

The Austria international joined Tottenham from FC Koln in Germany in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Mirror to be worth £4.3m.

Both Stoke and West Brom could do with a centre-back, and Wimmer will thrive if he plays regularly.
