Some Everton fans on social media have been reacting after it was announced that Tottenham Hotspur have released Serge Aurier.
So, why has this story caught the eyes of Everton supporters? Well, the overriding feeling amongst the fanbase is that they need a right-back, and there are some fans who believe the Ivorian could be the answer.
We can’t help but agree with the view that the Toffees need a new right-back – after all, Seamus Coleman isn’t getting any younger, while Ben Godfrey is much better utilised in the heart of the defence.
The transfer deadline may have passed, but the free-agent deadline hasn’t and with Aurier now without a club, Everton could swoop.
He would be a decent enough addition, he’s got plenty of experience at Champions League and international level, and while he’s not the best defensively, he’s decent on the ball and is a good crosser.
