Martin Keown believes Brendan Rodgers will stay at FA Cup finalists Leicester City, telling talkSPORT (23 April, 10am) Tottenham Hotspur may not be “big enough” to lure the Northern Irishman away.
The Foxes may not be about to repeat that fairytale of 2016 but this season could still prove to be one of the best in their history.
Victory over Southampton at Wembley means Leicester have reached the FA Cup final after 52 years away. If the Foxes beat Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea they will lift the famous trophy for the first time in their history.
Furthermore, a 3-0 trouncing of West Brom last night lifted Leicester to the dizzying heights of third in the Premier League table with just six games remaining.
The Midlands giants are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification – and that’s more than can be said of a Tottenham side languishing in sixth.
Rodgers all-but ruled himself out of contention for the Spurs job earlier this week and former Arsenal legend Keown wasn’t surprised.
“Is Spurs big enough for him? Has he got a better team at the moment? (Leicester) are in a cup final, they looked very good last night, although I know West Brom capitulated,” Keown says.

“I like the way he’s found a balance with the three at the back. (Leicester) are starting to grow and get better.”
Of course, 2020’s dramatic collapse – when Leicester dropped out of the Champions League places after the final game of the season – remains fresh in the mind, a nagging nightmare lurking in the subconscious.
Rodgers will be desperate to right those wrongs this time around.
“He’s got to make it into the top four because he doesn’t want that disappointment again,” Keown adds.
“(Leicester are) developing brilliantly. It’s very much (Rodgers’) story and I don’t think he wants to walk away from it.”
