Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier is arguably enjoying one of his best runs of form at Ibrox.
Ever since James Tavernier arrived at Rangers in 2015, he has virtually been an ever-present in the side, holding down the right-back spot under Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and during Graeme Murty’s two caretaker spells.
The 26-year-old has now comfortably cleared the century mark in terms of appearances for the Gers in all competitions, and he has taken just over two seasons to surpass that landmark.
But despite being extremely consistent for most of his time at Ibrox – contributing defensively and going forward – perhaps it would be fair to suggest that it is only now that Rangers fans are starting to see the very best of the right-back.
Tavernier was exceptional in his first year, scoring 10 goals to help the Light Blues win the Scottish Championship title and the League Cup – but of course, the standard of opposition obviously means that it is difficult gauge just how good his form was.
Now however, with three goals and five assists in the Scottish Premiership – including a brace in the 3-0 home win over Aberdeen – it certainly appears that the full-back is enjoying the best run of his Rangers career to date.
One of the next manager’s big challenges once they arrive therefore, may well be working out what it will take to ensure that Tavernier continues to thrive and prove just how important he is to the Gers over the coming months.
