Could Toby Alderweireld leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window?

Mauricio Pochettino manager

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that there are no new contracts in the pipeline for any of the players.

Pochettino told Football.London when asked if any new contracts are imminent for the players: “No, no, not at the moment.

“You know it’s difficult for me to talk. Plenty of rumours, but if anything is going to happen sure the club is going to communicate quickly with you.”

Clue on Toby Alderweireld’s future?

Pochettino’s comments give further clubs on the future of Toby Alderweireld, who has been linked with moves away from Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The Belgium international wants a new contract close to £200,000 per week, according to The Daily Mail, who has also claimed that talks over a new deal have collapsed.

Spurs are reportedly not willing to meet the wage demands of Alderweireld, who is claimed to be on the radar of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino’s comments suggest that a new deal with Alderweireld is far from being agreed, and perhaps they are an indication that the Spurs defender will leave.

Spurs fans, though, should not worry too much, as 2017 summer signing from Ajax, Davinson Sanchez, is progressing well and has established himself as a key player in the Tottenham defence and will only get better.
