Nottingham Forest reportedly want to bring Shankland to the Championship from Ayr United in the summer.

Nottingham Forest are among the clutch of clubs interested in signing the prolific Lawrence Shankland this summer, according to the Scottish Sun. And with good reason.
Now, Lewis Grabban has been in outstanding form for Forest this season, scoring 15 goals in the Championship while wingers Joe Lolley and Matty Cash have also chipped in impressively.
But there has been a lack of productivity elsewhere in the squad with seven teams in the division hitting the back of the net more often than Martin O’Neill’s side.
Daryl Murphy, El Arabi Hilel Soudani and Karim Ansarifard have scored just five between them so far while Leo Bonatini is without a league goal since December 2017.
With that in mind, it makes sense that Nottingham Forest would be considering a move for a striker who has scored a remarkable 30 times in 30 games this season. Particularly as Shankland is out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Before fans get carried away, however, it must be pointed out that Shankland is playing for Ayr United. And the last time Forest signed a prolific striker from Scottish second tier didn’t exactly go well, Jason Cummings netting just once in 14 league games.
Shankland may be a striker capable of hitting the net at any level but he has a long way to go and a lot to prove just yet.
