Newcastle United reportedly want Oleksandr Zinchenko of Manchester City in the summer transfer window?

Newcastle United are interested in signing Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Star.

However, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham also interested in the 21-year-old attacking midfielder, as reported by The Telegraph, it is hard to see Newcastle secure the services of the Ukraine international – who earns £20,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.

Both Wolves and Fulham won promotion from the Championship last season, and the Wanderers and the Cottager have been quite busy in the summer transfer window and have spent quite a bit of money already.

Wolves have signed Rui Patricio and have made the loan deals of Willy Boly and Leo Bonatini permanent, while Fulham spent £25 million to sign Jean Michael Seri from Nice, as reported by The Sun.

Newcastle have signed Ki Sung-yueng on a free transfer and have spent £4m to make Martin Dubravka’s loan deal permanent, as reported by The Chronicle, and it is hard to see the Magpies spend £16m on a single player, and that too on someone who is only 21 years of age and is still relatively unproven.

With Wolves willing to pay £16m for Zinchenko, as reported by Sky Sports, it is hard to see Newcastle matching that transfer fee, and Rafael Benitez’s side are likely to miss out on the 21-year-old.
