Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri this month.

Forza Roma claimed last week that Mo Salah – who joined the Reds from the Italian giants last summer – has recommended his former team-mate to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

But is the German manager on the brink of missing out on the 23-year-old?

Unfortunately for Liverpool, Chelsea have also been heavily linked and Goal.com reported last week that a £22 million switch to Stamford Bridge was in the offing.

With left-back Kenedy on his way to Newcastle United, it looks like Blues boss Antonio Conte, who previously claimed that he wouldn’t let the Brazilian leave unless he had a replacement, might have pipped his German counterpart in the race to sign Palmieri.

Still, it might not be the worst thing to happen for Klopp.

Andy Robertson arguably had his best game for Liverpool in the 4-3 win over Manchester City nine days ago and the addition of another left-back might have stifled his undoubted progress on Merseyside.
