Aston Villa, Sunderland and QPR are all tracking Peterborough United’s prolific marksman Jack Marriott and Leeds United have now joined the chase too.
Jack Marriott’s superb goalscoring form in his first few months at Peterborough United have seen him linked with an immediate exit from London Road.
The Mail claimed earlier this month that Championship trio Sunderland, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers were all plotting a move for a player who has netted 21 goals in 33 games for Posh since his summer move from Luton Town.
And, according to the Peterborough Evening Times, another second tier club has joined the race. Pierre-Michel Lasogga is the only Leeds United striker to have found the back of the net this season with Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki yet to score in the Championship since their summer arrivals.
And it seems that Leeds have turned their attention to Marriott as they aim to add a more reliable goalscorer to their squad. Signing the 23-year-old will be easier said than done, however, as the report adds that Peterborough have already turned down an offer of £2 million for the speedy striker.

But if the League One side are demanding more than £2 million, Leeds appear to be the only club capable of stumping up enough cash to tempt Posh into a sale.
Aston Villa and QPR will once again be restricted to loan moves and cut-price deals in the January transfer market due to the risk of falling foul of Financial Fair Play.
Villa clearly need a goalscorer with Keinan Davies, Scott Hogan and Gabriel Agbonlahor netting just four between them in this calendar year. Last season’s top scorer Jonathan Kodjia is out for a number of months with an ankle injury.
Sunderland, meanwhile, are in a huge amount of debt and it appears distinctly unlikely that they would spend more than £2 million a single player next month.
So while Leeds have work to do to bring Marriott to Elland Road, they may be free of competition.
