Leeds United may regret not taking up the opportunity to sign Michel Vorm on loan.

Unless of course, they have a different transfer lined up already.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported today that Leeds have rejected an offer from Tottenham to take Vorm for the rest of the season.

Vorm is an experienced goalkeeper who started for Tottenham in the San Siro against Inter Milan in the Champions League just this September.

He is now third choice and Spurs feel they can do without him. Leeds evidently do too.

Vorm is exactly what Leeds need, a goalkeeper with experience, who knows English football, and doesn’t mind sitting on the bench if required.

Alternative lined up?

Vorm would normally be a fantastic signing for Leeds, even on loan.

One clear reason they could have rejected the opportunity would be because they are confident they may have an alternative lined up.

Leeds acted quietly to get their deals done in the summer, and will have been working behind the scenes to identify a goalkeeper.

While not signing Vorm currently looks like it could be a mistake, the real time to judge is at the end of the transfer window.

If Leeds have a better goalkeeper in place than Vorm, then nobody will be questioning the decision.
