Leeds United brought in Mory Diaw for a trial earlier this week.

Leeds United handed a trial to former Paris Saint-Germain prospect Mory Diaw this week, with the goalkeeper featuring for the under-23 side.

It was nearly a very memorable game for him as he went up to try and score from a corner in injury time, flicking the ball onto a teammate, but the Whites could not capitalise, losing 3-2 to Crewe.

Diaw, 23, has been at Portuguese side Mafra but is free to move on.

Frequently at this stage of the season it is younger players who take trials, with a view to joining the under-23 side for the following campaign, but in Diaw’s case it would be because Leeds have an eye on him joining the first team.

The other possibly connected piece of news to this story is the injury picked up by goalkeeper Marco Silvestri last week.

The Italian has now undergone knee surgery and is set to miss the rest of the season, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.

There is a possibility Silvestri has played his last game for Leeds, with Monk passing him over for Green this season.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb reported last month that he was hoping to be offered a new contract with his current deal set to expire in June 2018, but there is no progress in this regard.

The YEP reported that ‘Surgery at this stage of the season is likely to ensure that Silvestri is fit before the summer transfer window opens’, hinting that Leeds have an eye on a summer sale.
