The Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been strongly linked with a move for Greg Taylor.

Just 24 hours after the manager of a rumoured Celtic target played down talk of him leaving, a report has emerged suggesting that he is about to sign a potential replacement.

The Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio told the Scotsman he wants to keep Greg Taylor and does not envisage him being sold before the 2 September deadline.

Taylor has been strongly linked with a move to Celtic in the wake of Kieran Tierney’s sale to Arsenal.

But according to the Scottish Sun, Killie are now set to sign an alternative left-back in the shape of Niko Hamalainen from Queens Park Rangers.

It seems unlikely that QPR would sanction such a move if they thought he might be kept out of the side by Taylor.

And if Celtic are indeed keen on the Scotland international, now may be the time to test the water.

Taylor, for whom Nurnberg are already said to have had a £500,000 bid rejected, has two years left on his deal at Rugby Park.
