Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier in action
A report from ESPN today claims that Spurs are set to offer full-back Kieran Trippier a new deal that would see him commit his best years to Tottenham.
The 26-year-old’s current contract with the club still has three years left to run, but ESPN report that Mauricio Pochettino wants to tie the former Burnley man down for an even longer time-frame.
If this is the case, surely that will lend further credence to the notion that Kyle Walker’s days with the Lilywhites are numbered.
Although Pochettino will surely want to keep the England international at the club, a player of Walker’s calibre will most certainly want to leave, if he is not guaranteed a regular place in the starting XI, especially with clubs like Bayern Munich and Manchester City thought to be sniffing around the 26-year-old right-back (the Mirror).
The former Sheffield United man has found his game-time limited of late, with Trippier taking centre stage. His selection in the north London derby ahead of Walker raised some eyebrows, and the Independent claim that his omission from the starting line-up led to an argument between him and Pochettino.

Walker is undoubtedly one of the world’s best right-backs, if not the best, and as good as Trippier has been this season, allowing the eight-year serving Spurs stalwart to leave the club could be seen as a huge backwards step.
Pochettino has become renowned for making the correct decisions with regards to who he has amongst his squad, however. He is arguably the best man-manager in the game, and if even the slightest of rifts between him and Walker has developed, there is only one foreseeable ending for the right-back.
