Premier League Everton have reportedly been sending scouts to watch Birmingham City’s 19-goal Championship forward Che Adams.

Richarlison Everton celebrates his goal during the Premier League match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on August 18, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton paid a club record £50 million last summer to sign a talented young winger before attempting to turn him into a centre-forward (BBC).

Richarlison has scored 10 Premier League goals for The Toffees since his arrival from Watford but whether he is an answer to their striker problems is up for debate. The Brazilian international has scored just two in his last 10 games in all competitions with fans critical of his lack of impact in recent matches.

So reports that Everton are looking at another young attacker who has been transformed from a lively winger into centre-forward raises a few questions.

According to TEAMtalk, Marco Silva’s side have been sending scouts to watch Che Adams, who has scored 19 goals in the Championship for Birmingham City this season to establish himself as one of English football’s most exciting talents.

Adams, who will cost a hefty £20 million according to TEAMtalk, has only been playing at the tip of the attack for a few months, however, having spent much of his career on the flanks.

Now, it is no secret that Everton have lacked a natural centre-forward since Romelu Lukaku’s departure in 2017. And paying £20 million for a player who has never played above Championship level, and whose best position remains unclear, looks like a questionable decision.

On paper, Adams and Richarlison look one and the same. Maybe Everton need something a little different.
