Everton were in competition with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Moussa Sissoko last season.

Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko before the match

According to a report on Bleacher Report, Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko is desperate to remain in the Premier League this summer.

A host of Chinese clubs are prepared to end Sissoko’s miserable time in North London.

However, the Frenchman is settled in England and wants to stay in the country.

The problem for Sissoko is that his awful campaign at Spurs means that he is not in demand.

With Tottenham still wanting to recoup some of the £30 million fee they paid to bring Sissoko in from Newcastle United, he remains a relatively expensive addition.

And many teams may be priced out of the market for Sissoko, with his options very limited.

Indeed, it may be that Sissoko’s only real option to stay in the Premier League could come from Everton.

The Toffees were known to want Sissoko before he moved to Spurs (Telegraph), but he turned down a possibility of a move to Goodison Park.

It is likely that Sissoko regrets that decision now, and Everton may be the only English club who could feasibly hand him a lifeline.

Ronald Koeman is known to be a fan of 27-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether Sissoko’s awful last campaign has put Everton off making a move.
