The talented midfielder hasn’t been at his best recently for Tottenham, how can Pochettino get the best out of the 21-year-old?

Tottenham Hotspur’s frustrating recent Premier League form continued last night as they lost 2-1 away to Leicester City.
The result means that Mauricio Pochettino’s team have taken just one point out of a possible nine from their last three league fixtures and currently find themselves outside the top four.
Dele Alli is undoubtedly one of Tottenham’s star players but the 21-year-old hasn’t escaped criticism for his recent displays and he was below par again at the King Power Stadium.

Pochettino has tried Alli in various positions of late, including as a forward alongside Harry Kane, as a deep-lying midfielder and as one of two players behind the main striker.
Wherever he has been deployed recently, Alli has still found it rather difficult to make a major impact overall and to make good use of the quality that he possesses.
Alli has been subdued, with the usual spark that accompanies his game sorely lacking.
There is little doubt that Alli’s performances have been concerning, but a tactical alteration could quickly see him return to his best.

A switch back to 4-2-3-1, with Alli as the main source of creativity behind Kane, could well be the best option for both Tottenham and one of their most important figures to get back on track.
Alli’s excellence at linking up play and dribbling past opponents has led to him receiving much praise since joining Tottenham and he will certainly overcome this difficult period.
By making Alli the chief creative focus of the side, Pochettino could help the England international to recapture his best form and start playing consistently again.
