West Ham United and Crystal Palace will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hammers are currently eighth in the league table with 39 points from 26 matches, eight points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Palace are placed 13th in the standings at the moment with 27 points from 26 games, just five points above the relegation zone.

Sam Allardyce’s West Ham side are struggling for points and for form at the moment, and will head into Saturday’s game on the back of a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

The Hammers had actually taken a 2-0 lead in the London derby, but they conceded twice late on to settle for a share of the spoils.

West Ham have not won a single competitive match this month, which means that despite playing at home against Palace in Saturday’s London derby, they cannot be too confident.

The Eagles have performed well under Alan Pardew, who was appointed the club’s manager in early January.

Palace defeated Leicester City 1-0 away from home and then drew 1-1 with Newcastle United at Selhurst Park earlier this month, before going down 2-1 to Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup and then suffering a narrow 2-1 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League.

Form-wise there is nothing much to choose between West Ham and Palace, but performances of the two teams throughout the season have been vastly different.

As the above Opta Stats table shows, West Ham have scored more and conceded fewer goals than Palace, while having more shots and fewer shots against than their London rivals.

There can be no doubt that the Hammers have been the better team than Palace this campaign, but the visitors’ chances of picking up all three points at the Boleyn Ground cannot be written off.
