Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic reportedly want to sign Bruno Davidson and Reagan Thomson.

Celtic didn’t just improve their first team during a hectic transfer window. While big-money signings like Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli dominated the headlines, The Hoops were busy behind the scenes putting a long-term plan in place as well.

In total, seven teenagers arrived at Parkhead before the September deadline, from high profile additions such as Luca Connell, Jeremie Frimpong and Lee O’Connor to little-known starlets Leo Hjelde, Jonathan Afolabi and Tobi Oluwayemi.

Liam Burt made a controversial switch across Glasgow from Rangers to Celtic, while back in September of last year Armstrong Oko-Flex rocked up after leaving Arsenal.

And the early signs suggest that this youth drive, with the Hoops looking to snap up some of the brightest young teen talents in Britain, is only just getting started.

On Tuesday alone, the Scottish Premiership leaders have been linked with two more fresh-faced wonderkids – even though only one looks set to arrive.

The future’s bright

According to the Daily Record, Newcastle United are on the verge of snapping up Queens Park midfielder Reagan Thomson for a ‘substantial’ fee. Celtic are still interested, however, having scouted the 16-year-old as he set up two goals during a Scotland youth game against Iceland recently.

Bruno Davidson of Hutchinson Vale is even younger, though the Sun claims that he’s a target for not only Celtic but Wolves, Sunderland and Southampton too. Davidson, a winger, spent time on trial at Liverpool earlier in 2019.

Now, these rumours are not exactly going to raise hairs on the arms of the Parkhead faithful but the supporters should be thrilled to see their side putting so much emphasis on creating a bright, long-term future once the current crop of first-team stars have bid farewell.

Who knows, one day we could see Connell, Afolabi, Burt and Frimpong dominating the Scottish game.
