Celtic tried to sign Charly Musonda from Chelsea in the summer and were reported to have been planning another approach in January.

Celtic were so determined to land Charly Musonda from Chelsea in the summer that they were prepared to make the winger one of the most expensive players in the club’s history before he had even made his senior bow for the Premier League champions.
The Daily Record reported in the summer that Celtic were willing to pay £5 million, just £1 million short of their transfer record, for the 20-year-old.
When Musonda’s brother took to Instagram to claim that the former Le Havre prospect wanted to fight for his place at Chelsea instead, however, the deal appeared to be dead. Until Musonda himself used social media to slam the club for his lack of opportunities this season, that is.

“You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected. And what do you get back? Literally nothing…done,” the youngster raged on his personal Instagram account, as reported by The Standard.
As such, The Scotsman claimed that Celtic had revived their interest in Musonda ahead of the January transfer window with Chelsea willing to loan him out in search of the regular first-team football that appears to be an impossibility at Stamford Bridge.
Change of heart
Yet, The Standard is now claiming that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has had a change of heart. The Italian warned Musonda about his conduct on social media but believes he could have an important role to play at Stamford Bridge between now and the end of the season.

Musonda, who is set to start against Everton in the EFL Cup fourth round on Wednesday, is likely to play back-up to Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard but, with Chelsea competing on both domestic and European fronts this season, Conte needs all the help he can get.
Celtic, as a result, look set to be frustrated again.
