Celtic reportedly want Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba, but he is claimed to be on his way to FC Porto in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba is set to join FC Porto, according to HLN, and that is a potential blow to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.
It has been reported that Mbemba will leave Premier League club Newcastle and move to Portuguese giants Porto in the next 48 hours, with all three parties claimed to be in advanced negotiations.

Porto won the Portuguese Primeira Liga this past season and will play in the Champions League during the 2017-18 campaign.
Celtic have been linked with a move for Newcastle defender Mbemba, with The Chronicle reporting of the Glasgow giants’ interest in the DR Congo international last month.

However, it seems that Brendan Rodgers’s side are set to miss out on the former Anderlecht star, who is valued at €4.6 million (£4.06m) by the CIES Football Observatory.
Mbemba may not have had the best of time at Newcastle since his move from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, but the 23-year-old is a talented defender who can only get better in the coming years.
