Aston Villa, who have signed nine players this summer, will take on Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Aston Villa’s Premier League return is edging ever closer as they continue preparations for their mouthwatering showdown against Tottenham Hotspur on August 10.
It is fair to say that Villa’s summer transfer business has caught the eye of many, with the Midlands outfit signing nine players in total, as more could follow before the August 8 deadline.
From powerful centre-back, Tyrone Mings to playmaker Jota, all of Villa’s new recruits, as well as the old faces, will be looking to make a name for themselves against Tottenham and during the season as a whole.
It is likely that winger Anwar El Ghazi [Guardian], who was purchased for £8 million, and Jota, who was involved in a £4 million swap deal with Gary Gardner [Daily Mail], could start on the flanks at Tottenham’s new stadium.
Added with that, Villa’s £22 million club-record signing [Guardian], Wesley Moraes may well be taking his place up front, as Villa’s £34 million attacking trio could surprise Spurs’ backline on the opening day of the campaign.
Whilst all the focus will be on star man Jack Grealish, and understandably so, Villa’s front three will provide that unknown factor which will make them very dangerous.

Dean Smith made it clear that following Villa’s promotion they are not here to make up the numbers and they will attack as much as they can.
If the above trio start then it will bring them into the game a lot more, especially playmaker Jota, who is impressing one and all with his performances in pre-season.
There’s no doubt that it’ll be a tough encounter for Villa, but regardless of what happens on the night, expect Smith’s front three to be direct and cause havoc to opposition defenders.
