Mousa Dembele starred for Tottenham in their north London derby win over Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur legend Ossie Ardiles has criticised another former Spurs man Garth Crooks after the latter overlooked Mousa Dembele in his BBC Sport Team of the Week.
The 30-year-old starred for Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino’s side earned a 1-0 win over Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime, thanks to Harry Kane’s second-half header.
Alongside Eric Dier, the former Fulham midfielder was in excellent form as he bossed the midfield of the park, keeping Jack Wilshere quiet and outshining both Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny for Spurs.
However, Crooks decided to pick Kevin De Bruyne and Gylfi Sigurdsson as his central midfielders following wins for both Manchester City and Everton. But Ardiles disagreed with the decision, responding to a fan on Twitter.
He claimed Belgium international Dembele produced his “best game ever” for Spurs.
The win against Arsenal sees Pochettino’s side move into the top four places in the Premier League table, with Chelsea and Arsenal now sitting in fifth and sixth place.
It remains to be seen if Dembele will start against Juventus on Tuesday night, after starting and finishing the 1-0 win over the Gunners. Victor Wanyama could come into the side, with Dier also looking to retain his place from Saturday’s win.
