BBC pundit Garth Crooks was full of praise for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in his side’s 4-3 victory against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Reds defender set up Curtis Jones’ opener with a delightful delivery just three minutes into the contest in what was an impressive showing from him.
Pundit Garth Crooks, like many was taken aback by how impactful Trent Alexander-Arnold was for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur.
Pundit Garth Crooks raves about Liverpool creator Trent Alexander-Arnold against Tottenham
Lately, the England international has been operating as an inverted right-back, which has allowed him to be deployed in midfield and create chances for his teammates.
This positional shift has led to an upturn in the 24-year-old’s performances, as his best attribute remains chance creation, whilst not having to defend as much, an area of his game that needs improving.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who ran the game from start to finish for Liverpool against Tottenham was rightly lauded by pundit Garth Crooks, who picked him in his Team of the Week.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was outstanding against West Ham in midweek, was the architect of Tottenham’s downfall in another first half blitz that saw Spurs 3-0 down and some of their fans looking for the exit door after just 15 minutes”, he said on BBC Sport.
HITC View: Trent Alexander-Arnold should never stray away from this role
As Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold showcased against Tottenham, impressing pundit Garth Crooks, as has been the case off the late, the inverted right-back role suits him the most.
Much like Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo, as effective as he can be from wider areas, the full extent of his unique game shines from the middle of the park.
Similarly, to Cancelo, the Englishman is not the finest of defenders and especially in 1v1 situations, he can come second best more often than what is ideal for a side aspiring to challenge on all fronts.
But in this specialised role, there are not many more influential players for their respective teams in world football.
